Playing:

After college, he played with the recently created DC United U-23 (Supplement Reserve Squad) and with the Real Maryland PDL team.

Daniel earned 3 Consecutive NCAA appearances, 2 Conference Titles, and was named to the First Team ALL-MAAC. As a freshmen he started all 23 games in the midfield, scored his first career goal in the MAAC Tournament semi-final and finished season with three points on one goal and one assist. As a sophomore, he played in all 21 games at outside midfielder, starting the last 19. Daniel scored five goals and two assists for 12 points, fourth-best on the team. His three game-winners were tied for second-most. As a junior he recorded 3 spectacular goals, 3 assists and played in every game to help his team clinch the league title.

Before Loyola he played on the Maryland ODP 89′ squad, earned three Varsity Soccer Letters at Watkins Mill High School, was named an All-State honorable mention and earned All-Area honors from the Montgomery County Gazette and the Examiner. He was a member of the Potomac Cougars Club Team.

Coaches Corner:

As a student of the game, Coach Daniel strongly believes that the sport of football (soccer) itself is the best teacher. An obsessive passion for the game is needed in order to ceaselessly watch and play the sport; this is the critical component that drives the rapid improvement of youth players. This passion, coupled with seasoned advice and instruction creates well-rounded and talented players. For this reason, Coach Daniel thoroughly enjoys personal training. 

Whether watching, playing or coaching, Coach Daniel sees the game through a very simple lens. Regardless of the age level, Coach Daniel looks at the game with a very critical eye for detail; always assessing as to whether it is the technical or tactical strength of a team that is allowing them to gain the upper hand and ultimately the victory in a football match. As a result, Coach Daniel is always excited to coach on game days. 

When training teams in the Germantown, Rockville, Damascus and Bethesda area, you can definitely expect to hear Coach Daniel urging his teams to “FOCUS”. From his many years of playing and coaching, Daniel knows what a difference a bit of focus makes regardless of the age and skill level of the player. When Daniel plays, he takes extreme pride in not giving the ball away, but focusing on every touch and pass ensuring every single one finds its intended target. He brings this same expectation to his players. Like many coaches, Daniel focuses on technical ability- dribbling, touches and passing. However, what sets him apart is his knowledge of positioning and his desire and ability to transpose that unto his players. He understands that this type of knowledge and football intelligence goes a long way and adds immense value to the player. He is constantly asking his players to assess their position on the field and whether they are able to place themselves at an even better angle to provide the best support for their teammates. 

One thing is certain, when Daniel is not coaching, he is playing or watching the game, as he feels there is always more to learn about the beautiful game. To many he is coach, but personally, he will always see himself as a student.
