World Class Premier Announces Baltimore Expansion
February 20, 2019 - Baltimore, MD - World Class Premier (WCP) is proud and excited to announce their expansion from Montgomery County, MD to Baltimore. WCP will bring our coaching philosophy to the Baltimore area creating new accessibility to the club, our coaches, and the beautiful game.
WCP has selected driven, passionate, and experienced coaches to expand to Baltimore. These coaches have grown up playing in the area on local youth soccer teams, local high schools, local colleges, and some even being drafted to the MLS. WCP founder Kokou Assigbe will oversee the entire club and expansion while Kingsley Onwuka (Kenwood HS, UMBC) will be the Director of Coaching for WCP Baltimore. Onwuka will be joined by Oumar Ballo (Archbishop Curley HS, UMBC) as Technical Director, Elton Joe (CCBC Essex, Wilmington University) as Technical Director, and Evan Raimist (Walkersville HS, Shippensburg University) as Director of Goalkeeping.
The club aims to lead the way in true player development. In place of a results-focused mindset, players under WCP tutelage learn, grow, and are given the right tools to express themselves individually on the field and to collectively understand how to work together to play beautiful soccer. Founded on a culture of discipline and fun, WCP instill core values in their players and hold them to a high standard while simultaneously instilling a love of the game.
With WCP, players learn how to Play The Right Way. We have a “one club” mentality with one way. Across the board, all WCP teams institute the same philosophy of play. We believe the game should be enjoyable for both players and spectators. We focus not just on wins, but in how they play and the manner with which we win. Through implementation of the total futbol methodology (developed by the likes of Ajax and Barcelona) players have numerous opportunities for touches on the ball. The aim is to pave the way toward change in the culture of soccer by laying the foundation of development which is crucial in molding World Class Players.
To kick things off, WCP will host a free clinic open to boys age 11 - 17 (Middle and High School age) on March 26th and 28th from 6 - 8pm at the William J Myers Pavilion (4300 W Bay Ave., Baltimore, MD 21225). The clinic is open to any player who wants to attend, is interested in playing soccer, or just wants to kick around with friends. The clinic will be coached by all members of the coaching staff and players will get hands on coaching and face-to-face time with the staff.
